RESPONSABILITATI

The safety supervisor should have a pro-active approach in performing his duties by advising contractors in advance, on safe methods and practices in carrying out their tasks.

The safety supervisor shall:
•Carry out site safety inductions
•Ensure contractors have received the plant specific induction
•Review contractors method-statements/risk assessments and provide appropriate commentary
•Ensure contractors have read, understood and signed risk assessments
( JSA)
•Prepare sample documentation for submission to Clients, contractors or for use
on a site
•Provide guidance regarding safe working practices in relation to specific
situations
•Carry out safety inspection or audits and produce a report of findings
•Contact contractors, customers or external organisations, including statutory
enforcement authorities to discuss safety matters as necessary
•Review the Health and Safety plan and advise of any actions required in relation
to the content of this plan.
•Carry out Tool-box talks and co-ordinate contractor training as required
•Co-ordinate safety meetings with contractors
•Attend site safety meetings with the Client as a representative of the company
•Ensure that contractors work in a safe and controlled manner, co-ordinating
relevant site documentation as necessary: site daily labour sheets,
permits to work, hot work permits, isolations, roof works, confined spaces etc
•Confirm contractors undertake mandatory equipment checks
•Ensure contractors are adequately trained
•Ensure contractors maintain good housekeeping
•Ensure contractors provide MSDS sheets for all products brought on site and
maintain a register of all such substances.
•Assist subcontractors in coordinating deliveries, offloading, safe
storage and traffic management during unloading periods.
The Safety Supervisor is to retain full responsibility for all Health and Safety
activities on site, undertaking such tasks, (record keeping, training and
communications) as are necessary to comply with statutory requirements, whilst
ensuring that the company is able to achieve its contractual obligations with the
Client.

Engineering and Technology — Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
Mathematics — Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
Chemistry — Knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo. This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
Customer and Personal Service — Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
