As R&D Thermal Engineer, you will be responsible for thermal analysis and development of new product development, for support for Cummins Generator Technologies’ (CGT) strategic model of functional excellence for Computation Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and for supporting project leaders/ managers when assigned to projects. You will report to the R&D Team Leader in Craiova.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support thermal functional excellence for CGT
• Manage CGT’s compliance with best practice using internationally recognised standards
• Benchmark external and internal best practices through development of analysis led design (ALD) and engineering standard work (ESW). Lead and mange the implementation of those practices applied to new product development
• Identify, initiate, develop and implement thermal improvement projects and processes
• Provide expertise to drive continuous learning and knowledge sharing, in order to maintain a competitive advantage and to empower employees to achieve performance excellence
• Production of ongoing modifications to thermal design as needed, to improve safety, performance, cost effectiveness, reliability, ease of manufacture etc. To suit all internal and external customers
• Liaison on design modifications as necessary, with all areas of the engineering, material control and quality departments when required
• Dealing with technical enquiries from all internal and external sources.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum bachelor degree in mechanical engineering, additional training in electrical engineering would be a plus. Thermal engineering specialisation is highly desired.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
• Experience in validating thermal performance of electrical machines
• Computation Fluid Dynamics experience
• Final Element Analysis experience
• Fundamental understanding of thermal engineering
• Fluent Romanian and English
• Good communication skills to operate cross-functionally and internationally
