RESPONSABILITATI

You will be joining a young and enthusiastic team and working from our office in central Cluj.

- Technical Support Engineer and Operations Developer

You will be providing technical support to Layershift's diverse group of customers, primarily via a helpdesk system. You will be troubleshooting issues with Linux web hosting technologies, and resolving the majority of problems independently. You will also spend 50% of your time working with our small operations team developing scripts to improve our service offerings. This includes perl and bash scripting primarily, to automate functions across our servers and to improve the integration of our existing and future systems. As the role develops this may become a full-time responsibility, but initially this role is designed to offer a balance between a technical support role and operations development role in order to establish a solid understanding of all aspects of our operations.

Support will be for customers of layershift.com for Managed Shared, VPS and Dedicated services and wizzvps.com for Unmanaged VPS services. Many new services will be offered in the near future to expand our range, and as a developer you will assist us in this.

- 1st and 2nd Line Linux Technical Support
- 1st Line Windows Technical Support
- Perl, bash, python, MySQL, PostgreSQL development experience
- 50% support, 50% development role
- Rotating schedule


CERINTE

An understanding of Linux operating systems such as RedHat/CentOS/Ubuntu including the following:

- Ability to compile/recompile RPM packages

- Knowledge or a desire to learn Perl, Bash and/or Python scripting

- A strong understanding of some or all of these Linux technologies:
- Apache, MySQL, ProFTPd, Bind, Qmail, Postfix, Courier-IMAP, PHP, Perl, Python, SpamAssassin

- A desire to troubleshoot basic and complex technical problems with all of the above

- Ability to research solutions to problems without assistance

Experience using the following is a bonus (note, all applicants will be considered as full training will be given):

- Virtuozzo Containers for Linux

- Parallels Plesk for Linux (and Windows)

- Parallels Plesk SiteBuilder

- Parallels Small Business Panel

- Parallels Automation (Parallels Operations Automation and Parallels Business Automation)

- Parallels Business Automation Standard

Experience working on a helpdesk is an advantage, but not required.

Must possess a high degree of initiative and the ability to work as a team player.

Good English communication skills are required as you will be dealing with with customers via an online helpdesk system, face to face meetings with management and occasional phone calls to our UK office. Language training may be offered to candidates showing exceptional skills in other areas.
