Technical knowledge
a) Basic PC/Server Hardware troubleshooting knowledge
b) Apache2 | lighttpd | squid | resin | tomcat | mongrel | jboss. Be familiar with some and ready to learn the rest -- config files, log files, tuning, maintenance and troubleshooting.
c) Virtualization VMWare, Vservers, and others
d) Nagios | cacti | mon | SNMP | weathermap.
e) Databases MySQL | postgresql, MSSQL or Oracle -> Setup, fine tune, recovery
f) Basic networking knowledge.
g) Know how to set up, configure and use name servers.
h) stability, reliability and scalability development)
i) Good understanding of security concepts
j) System performance tuning.
Would be an advantage if :
a) Java programming or Java Servers (Tomcat, JBOSS)
Personal Qualifications:
a) At least 1+ year experience in operation of a data center of a similar scale
b) Availability for 24/7 shift operations to quickly resolve any upcoming issues in operations of the services
c) Plans and executes all tasks independently and conscientiously
