Evaluate product requirements and functional specifications
Using proven Quality Assurance techniques, provide intuitive feedback to product managers and change originators regarding the quality of change requests arriving in the Engineering Department
Develop and maintain test cases, ensuring optimal test suite size for desired coverage
Develop test plans that adhere to the company’s Quality Assurance Approach
Define the following test acceptance criteria: test-entry, test suspension, test resumption and test closure
Develop and maintain efficient, modular and reliable automated test cases in Microsoft Powershell
Develop and maintain functionality for the automation framework, written in C# .NET.
Execute automated regression runs and collate results
Analyse and report automation results
Liaise with project managers in the scheduling of pre-development quality assurance and post-development test execution
Proficiency in the following testing techniques: Static, Unit, Integration, System, User Acceptance, Regression and Maintenance
Execute prepared test cases
Ability to either manage or be managed during a testing life cycle, by either taking the lead on test projects or working as a test analyst on fellow Engineers’ projects
Document software defects clearly and unambiguously and track these defects through the test lifecycle to either resolution or removal to a later project
Isolate conditions for recreating problems found in testing and offer assistance with problem resolution through core product knowledge
Identify opportunities to increase or reduce release scope during a test lifecycle, in order to ensure projects remain on track for target completion dates
Assess product usability and reliability and provide feedback and recommendations for improvements to developers and product managers
Ability to participate in multiple concurrent projects, offering Quality Assurance services across a number of projects as defined by the Quality Assurance Manager
Coordinate with customer support, operations and software development staff
Excel as a team player and strive to maximise team/department performance
Successful candidates will have a solid Automated Quality Assurance background with proven technical and problem solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to work both independently and in an aggressive, small team environment
Person Specification
Experience & Qualifications Required:
3+ years’ software testing experience of larges Web site or software product
B.Sc in Computer Science or equivalent demonstrated knowledge
Strong knowledge and experience with the Internet and transactional Web sites
Experience of test automation: either using industry standard applications like WinRunner/QTP or Rational, or bespoke in-house developed test automation packages
Experience of shells and shell scripting: C-shell, Korn shell, Bash or Microsoft Powershell
Understanding of object-oriented development techniques – development experience in Java or C# an advantage
Understanding of browser compatibility issues
Proficiency in test case generation techniques: equivalence partitioning, boundary value analysis etc
Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
Good written and verbal communication skills
