Introduction:
- Opsware Inc. is seeking to hire an Engineering Manager for our newly created R&D office in Cluj, Romania. The person who fills this job will be responsible for hiring and managing a growing team of software developers and QA engineers in Cluj. The job will require significant interface with (and occasional travel to) the United States to collaborate with our US-based engineering teams.

Overall Job Requirements:
- Day-to-day management of a team of software developers
- Development and review of functional specifications; key decision-maker on architectural decisions; development of engineering plans, timelines
- Communication with product management and the sales teams as appropriate regarding development plans
Ideal Candidate Background:
- Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field
- 5 years of engineering management experience preferably in an enterprise software company
- Very high technical competence, track record of strong coding and individual technical accomplishments; 5+ years of hands on development experience
- Strong distributed systems and architecture knowledge, and experience with multi-tiered mission-critical systems preferred
- Systems administration or operations management experience preferred
- Proven leader with experience building and energizing strong engineering teams
- Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successful product delivery
- Highly reliable self-starter; can-do attitude; able to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
