Position Purpose:
This position requires Quality Assurance or Software Development background, good technical and problem-solving skills, a demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a team player in a fast-paced environment, and expertise in testing large scale databases.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

- Provide accurate estimates, quality testing, and post-release sanity checks of DW releases
- Accept responsibility for test planning and management of delegated areas of functionality
- Perform and/or help developers perform impact analysis for upcoming projects and clarify incomplete requirements
- Evaluate available project information to be able to identify and focus efforts on high-risk areas of functionality
- Work with all members of the extended DW team to ensure timely delivery of quality code
- Take initiative in reproducing production issues in QA environments and vice versa with the objective of separating data problems from functionality problems
- Continuously strive to expand test coverage within the DW
- Monitor and help maintain testing and development quality standards
- Contribute original thinking to QA approach and process improvement by evaluating current processes and making recommendations for desirable changes
- Help developers with performance testing, query tuning, and generating test data when required
- Analyse undocumented code-base areas with the goal of producing documentation and test scenarios
- Support development team in test-driven development activities
- Validate and verify all unit tests submitted by developers
- Work with QA engineers from product teams when integration testing is required
- Handle tight deadlines, rapidly changing requirements, and short project lifecycles
- Evaluate possible tools that can be utilised to enhance the data warehouse QA processes
- Contribute to revising and maintaining of the DW regression test pack following all releases


CERINTE

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications Required:

- Solid knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL and extensive Oracle 9i/10g experience
- Extensive experience of testing large-scale OLTP systems and/or data warehouses
- Strong analytical and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of data warehousing-related concepts (including replication, star schema design, OLAP)
- Proficiency in test plan and test case generation and execution, as well as in black/white box testing techniques
- Fundamental understanding of test-driven development concepts
- Ability to prioritise multiple concurrent tasks effectively and efficiently, as well as to manage own time accordingly
- Solid understanding of source control systems (preferably Perforce)
- Extensive experience working with defect- and request-tracking software
- Understanding of all phases of SDLC, as well as of various software testing and development methodologies
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work well with both technical and non-technical members of other teams
- Proven ability to thrive both as a team player and as an individual contributor
- Understanding of application interactions in a single-environment setup
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
- Working knowledge of non-‘point-and-click’ QA automation tools highly desirable
