Position Purpose:
Betfair, the world’s first and largest betting exchange, is arguably Britain’s greatest Internet success story and has become one of the biggest online trading operations in Europe since its launch in 1999. A key element of the company’s success has been its ability to run a state-of-the-art real-time data warehouse enabling the business to access near-time high transactional data to support key functional and operational areas.
This is a support/development role in the Datawarehouse Delivery team that requires a candidate with very good Oracle SQL and PL/SQL skills. The role involves working closely with the Datawarehouse stakeholders. The environment is fast-paced requiring a quick mind to understand and support new functionalities/technologies in a dynamic workplace.
Key Responsibilities / Duties:
- Responsible for day time support of the live Data warehouse
- Responsbile for preparation of data correction scripts using advanced SQL / PL SQL
- Responsbile for development of defect fixes for the live issues in a timely manner
- Perform root cause analysis for the issues and make suggestions to improve designs
- Understand, prioritize and resolve support tickets
- Tune poorly performing / long running programs
- Create utilities/routines to automate support procedures
- Handover support routines to 1st / 2nd line support teams
- Participate in an out of office hours on-call rota for the data warehouse
- Create technical documentation for Data warehouse interfaces
- Produce statistics on support issues
- Adhere to company coding standards and guidelines

Essential
- Experience in writing advanced SQL, PL/SQL
- Experience of working extensively on Oracle 10g
