Sustaining Engineer
Location: Brno, CZ


Role Summary
The Messaging Sustaining team provides 3rd line support to live customer sites and Release Sustaining for OMG and Message+ products. OMG and Message+ are Acision’s messaging and multi-media gatewaying and personalization products


Summary of Key tasks and activities
• Participate in the design of solutions involving OMG and Message+
• Perform inspection and integration of delivered OMG/M+ and third-party software components
• Deliver workaround’s to customers including software and documentation.
• Be responsible for 3rd line Support of delivered solution including making workaround and configuration changes in emergency situations.
• Be responsible for driving Product Maintenance in providing software code fixes for our customers
• Be available to be on call 24X7 on a rota basis.
• Act as knowledge base for the solution, producing FAQs and other customer facing documents.
• Liaise with customer support engineers in the field.
• Occasionally travel to site to assist in deployment activities

Key Skills/Competencies

1. Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
• Computing Degree or equivalent
• 3 years in a support role
• 2 years experience with shell scripting (java experience is a pre)
• 3 years experience with UNIX, either HPux, Solaris or Linux.
2. Key competencies essential for the role
• Strong analytical skills
• Good communication skills both with team members and customers
• Used to problem-solving under pressure
• A good customer focus - to understand the impact of engineering deliverables
3. Technical Knowledge and expertise
• Knowledge of PERL
• Knowledge of HTML
• Basic knowledge of Java
• Experience with SMS based products
• Experience with Apache-Tomcat
• Real time systems knowledge
• Excellent presentation skills/ Customer facing abilities
• UNIX system administration skills
