PLATFORMS BDE TEAM DESCRIPTION:
The Platforms BDE (PLBDE) team is the single point of contact between Oracle Support and our DDR and Base Development teams on Port Specific Bugs. PLBDE is responsible for ensuring a high level of Bug quality. Our responsibilities include: reviewing, screening and validating all Bugs (including their associated test cases), processing Severity 1 requests, Bug escalations, One-Off Backport requests, answering Support Requests for Assistance (RFAs), as well as the creation of processes and procedures that ensure that all Bugs are fully documented and well formed prior to their assignment into DDR or Development. The PLBDE team also liaisons with our 3rd party Joint Escalation Team (JET) partners (Sun & Symantec (VOS), HP, NetApp, IBM, EMC, Dell, etc.) to make certain that our joint customers receive a greater level of 2nd tier support. The strength of this partnering arrangement allows our customers to heavily rely on qualified engineers from several organizations to effectively move their issues to resolution.

PLATFORMS BDE ENGINEER JOB DESCRIPTION:
We are looking for a Senior Engineer to assist us with Windows platform specific RDBMS interoperability and/or Windows client product issues:

- The Senior Engineer is widely regarded as a subject matter expert in many competencies, able to resolve the most complex issues or identify acceptable workarounds.
- He or she performs the assigned duties with a great degree of independence requiring minimal direction. The Engineer is adept at building relationships across organizations and leveraging these relationships to resolve cross-product issues.
- The Engineer has excellent communication skills, both verbal and written and is comfortable interacting with Executives and Senior Management officials.
- The Engineer will offer strategic technical support to assure the highest level of customer satisfaction. A primary focus is to create and utilize automated technology and instrumentation to diagnose, document, and resolve/avoid Customer issues.
- The Engineer is expected to be an expert member of the technical problem solving/problem avoidance team, routinely sought after to address extremely complex, critical customer issues.
- Though not often, services may be required to provide assistance with the Customer on-site. The job requires also a good flexibility covering Severity 1 Bugs and related issues 24x7.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Resolves very complex or previously unknown problems requiring high level technical expertise and product knowledge
-Serves as Situation Manager on highly sensitive proactive and reactive Customer issues
- Drives improvements in product quality
- Responsible for communicating bug priorities to Development
- Engages in activities designed to minimize duplicate and false bugs
- Consults with Customers on complex use of Oracle products
- Consults with Management in directing resolution of critical Customer situations
- Communicates all important patching information to general Support community
- Participates in initiatives that improve overall Bug quality for his/her competency
- Writes/reviews data fix scripts for Customers
- Provides feedback to improve product quality/functionality (i.e. Problem Avoidance Architecture (PAA)), instrumentation and/or writes scripts (i.e. remote diagnostic agent (RDA), etc.)
- Achieves knowledge transfer with teammates through: Development and Delivery of Formal Team Training sessions/Brown Bags, Formal Mentoring, Creation/Review of Knowledge Repository Articles
- Promotes the technical and professional development of others, i.e. mentoring others
- Participates in Beta programs
- Participates in product/platform regression testing
- Analyzes work load, determines best practices and implements changes to improve productivity
- Participate in on-call 24x7 rotation approximately every few weeks


CERINTE

JOB REQUIREMENTS AND TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED:
· Exceptional core Oracle product knowledge
· Technical degree i.e., BS Computer Science/Management Information Systems/Science/Engineering/Math/Physics/Chemistry or proven professional and technical experience
· Demonstrating an understanding of Oracle RDBMS and RAC
· In depth Microsoft Windows platform skills, knowledge on ADPlus & Microsoft Windows debugging tools, ODP.NET, ODBC, OLEDB, ADO, RDO, OO4O, etc.
· Excellent C/C++ code knowledge on reading Oracle source code.
· Thorough understanding of the Oracle Database features and internals
· Thorough understanding of the Oracle recovery, block structures, performance, etc.
· Good understanding of Support and Oracle diagnostics tool sets
· Programming in C, Java
· UNIX/Linux operating system knowledge is appreciated
