SuperPunk is looking for a talented hacker to help out with webish projects developed either for our clients (most top brands in diverse industries), or on our awesome internal projects and toys developed for our fun and profit.
You will be part of a small team of coders with a passion for making software and computers act in crazy ways; you will be working on projects as diverse as ad-server technologies, VoIP integration, e-commerce appliances, ERP integration, CMS quick hacks, mobile messaging, aviation booking, and others.
You will be required to architect small to large projects, and you must be quick in prototyping your ideeas - on no matter how novel a technology. When working on the real-deal and not prototyping, you will be meticulous in documenting and testing the result of your work.
Due to the huge amount of libraries available (as diverse as our project targets) and the elegance of the code, Python could be the language of choice of the software engineer. Ruby and Perl hackers are also welcome, if they can write awesome code.
As you will be working in a mostly creative design agency, you should be ready to help-out fellow designers working with Adobe technologies such as Flash w/o ActionScript, Flex, AIR, and related tools such as swfmill, haXe, etc - your job being backend integration, hacking coaching or toolchain setup.
The software engineer will be able and do quick hacks on mini/micro communication platforms in the shortest time possible; and do patch-ups to legacy systems and web-sites, no matter their platform. A new language syntax plus understanding its libraries over night so we can monkey-patch it ? No problem !
You will be able to quickly create reports with data from the running systems, and present the data nicely to our business analysts or to our clients.
You will be tirelessly learning and be perpetual informed of the technological issues and trends of your field, always suggesting the best (as opposed to just a favourite) technology to solve the issues at hand.
- Excellent knowledge of Python or Ruby - along with a web framework of your choice (Django much appreciated).
- Must be able to write a Makefile; must be able to work with git - for individual projects or in a team work-flow.
- Excellent prototype, or jquery, or yui - along with a user-interface library built on top of these frameworks. Excellent AJAX.
- Good CSS-fu; an eye for design much appreciated.
- Knowledge of Adobe technologies such as Flash/ActionScript, AIR, Flex.
- Some knowledge of Java EE, some knowledge of PHP along with any of its frameworks.
- Must be able to understand and write C code, e.g for wrapping platform libraries to the high-level language of choice.
- Understanding of the process model, threading (and its limitations), inter-process-communication, synchronisation mechanisms, for all the programming languages mastery is claimed.
- Excellent knowledge of Postgresql or MySQL. Firebird appreciated. Database optimisation knowledge required.
- Experience with caches and key-value stores.
- Understanding or experience with replication and high availability solutions available for relational or non-relational stores will be much appreciated.
- Some knowledge of sed, awk, grep - for fast data retrieval and manipulation.
- Ability to develop and deploy on a GNU/Linux system.
- Mastery of a new language or framework within one year
- Preffered university degree, in fields tangent to the above descriptions
- 2 years minimum previous experience on a similar position
