Position Description:
The successful candidate will be enrolled in Qualitance as UX Consultant and shall work integrated with customer's team to help scope, lead, and deliver high quality UX design solutions. An UX Consultant is skilled at understanding a client’s problem and coming up with the “big picture” concept direction and is able to both direct, critique, and coach a small team and roll up his/her sleeves to flesh out a design. He/she works collaboratively with the rest of the team to conduct the appropriate research, design the solution, and create user profiles, scenarios, wireframes, site maps, and other important design deliverables. He/she also contributes to business development efforts by providing input for SOW’s and Proposals, and participating in RFP development.
Duties and responsibilities:
Be responsible for the analysis and specification of use cases based on project orders, user personas and scenarios;
Develop user-centered interfaces and processes using rapid prototyping tools;
Take part in creating User Centered Design Guidelines (processes and interaction behavior) together with our peers in Germany;
Take responsibility for the conceptual design, prototyping, clear communication and verification of the correct implementation of your concept;
Prepare, implement and evaluate usability tests.
Requirements:
Several years experience as an interface architect, concept or UX / Interaction Designer, or as an information architect
Able to draw insights from user research, create an inspiring vision that reflects the client’s brand, help stakeholders visualize the experience via low - and high-fidelity prototypes, and evaluate designs through usability testing
Hands-on skills with and/or understanding of the application of visual design and brand identity to Rich Internet Applications and web sites; excellent grasp of User-Centered Design and usability best practices
Ability to tailor the User-Centered Design Process to the needs of specific clients
A solid point of view on and knowledge of current user-interface design patterns and best practices, especially using next-generation technologies in enterprise applications and B2C websites, including emerging design patterns for social computing, blogs, etc.
Hands-on experience with:
gathering business requirements
performing usability surveys and competitive analyses
creating user profiles and personas
defining usability requirements
creating information architectures and taxonomies
conducting focus groups/workshops and usability testing (including cognitive walkthroughs, paper prototyping and recorded tests)
creating wireframes and high fidelity prototypes
creating surveys and freesorting exercises
writing functional specs and style guides
Ability to translate user requirements artifacts such as wireframes and prototypes into functional specifications for development teams
Able to recognize and communicate UX patterns, code solutions and innovations to clients and development teams
Strong presentation and facilitation skills demonstrated by the ability to facilitate group discussions and lead client requirement activities such as business analyses, task analyses, and creative workshops
Comfortable to lead or conduct user requirements activities such as ethnographic studies, interviews, focus groups, design workshops, and usability tests
Ability to translate user requirements artifacts such as wireframes and prototypes into functional specifications for development teams
Very good experience in analyzing business goals and metrics, understanding users and usability best practices while maintaining client’s brand direction
Well developed project management skills: estimating work, project planning and tracking, risk analysis, and
scope control
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English
Technical requirements:
Very good hands-on skills with DHTML, CSS and JavaScript
Working knowledge of technologies such as AJAX, XML, DHTML, Flash, Flex, AIR, PHP, Java
Experience with creating Web-ready graphics in Photoshop, Illustrator, Fireworks, Gimp or Inkscape
Good knowledge of:
MS Office or Open Office, including Powerpoint or Impress
Visio, Omnigraffle or other flow-charting applications
