The Unix/Linux Support Engineer works in the Technical Support department and provides level one or level two support for Rack-Soft customers. She or he is responsible for implementing services according to the customer requests. On this job, you will have to:
- Deliver web based, e-mail and phone support for OS and software issues in English
- Perform scheduled tasks and regular server administration tasks
- Report Rack-Soft software problems to Software Quality Assurance
- Handle emergency interventions, as they are raised by customers
- Provide feedback and reporting to management regarding documentation and overall software quality
- Report documentation issues that cause problems to customers
Our candidate should have a B.S or M.S degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering and previous experience as a technical support engineer that handled software and networking issues.
Excellent Linux knowledge and good Unix operating systems knowledge are required. The Technical support engineer must be able to write automation scripts in at least one relevant scripting language (for example Shell, Perl, Python) and must be familiar with Open Source applications.
You will not be able to do this job without good understanding of networking protocols and SQL language.
As the communication with customers is done in English, excellent English skills (write and speak) are required.
