The QS Intelligence Unit (a division of QS Quacquarelli Symonds Ltd), is one of the world’s leading compilers of independent market research and institutional evaluations in international higher education. The unit (QSIU) publishes a range of highly visible and influential rankings of international universities including the QS World University Rankings®, a range of reports on the trends and opinions of internationally mobile students and the viewpoint of employers as well as operating an increasing range of commercially successful reporting, evaluation and bespoke consultancy services for individual universities.
QSIU is seeking a motivated individual to take up a position of Research Assistant.
Working closely with colleagues in both our Bucharest and London offices, this position will require a combination of drive, analytical capability, knowledge and interest in higher education and creativity. It will involve the application of relevant knowledge, expertise, experience and analytical abilities to commercial contracts taken on by the QS Intelligence Unit, as well as contributing to other research outputs of the unit including the QS World University Rankings which has a global audience in the 100s of millions.
Ideal candidate
We are looking for a candidate keen to gain experience and build a career in the area of educational research with strong focus on Higher Education.
You will have analytical insight and familiarity with working with large data sets as well as you will be an effective communicator both personally and in writing. You will be results-oriented and dedicated to contributing to the success and development of our business unit and its research outputs.
Responsibilities include:
- Data collection – gathering correct information from universities directly via email, website, telephone or third party sources
- Data entry – accurate data entry into existing online database
- Data validation – determine if data is accurate, complete or meets specified criteria
- Correspondence – dealing with university representatives or third party clients, handling enquiries, promoting the products
- Research – research the web or other applicable sources for useful information
- Research Outputs – contributing to high quality and insightful research outputs
- Translation – translating existing templates and/or correspondence into local language
Gathering the correct information from universities can be a challenging task and often requires a surprising level of skill, tenacity and diplomacy as well as a healthy appetite for problem solving.
