For one of our clients, an independent law firm we are looking for a Secretary/ Translator.
Reading through original material and rewriting it in the target language, ensuring that the meaning of the source text is retained;
Researching legal, technical and scientific phraseology to find the correct translation;
Liaising with clients to discuss any unclear points;
Proofreading and editing final translated versions;
Liaising with businesses, legal firms and government departments as necessary, depending on the content of the material to be translated;
Retaining and developing specialist knowledge on specialist areas of translation;
Responding to inquiries from clients and public about company's services;
Assessing needs of clients and referring them to appropriate department available within the company;
Answering the telephone and transferring calls to the appropriate individuals, divisions or department;
Taking telephone messages for the staff;
Greeting visitors to the facility, answering questions and directing them to the appropriate individuals;
Typing a variety of forms, letters, reports and memos;
Receiving and distributing mail;
Organizing and maintaining office files and records.
Experience is an asset;
Translator/Interpreter Authorization is a plus;
Good knowledge of Microsoft Office;
Fluency in written and spoken English;
Strong communication and interpersonal skills;
Responsible, organized, efficient and flexible person;
University degree.
