Position Summary
We are starting a new team in Adobe Romania, to be part of the larger Flash Runtime Standards, Productivity and Architecture (SPA) team, and we're looking for a senior engineer to be the technical leader for this team.
About Flash Runtime
Adobe® Flash® Player is a cross-platform, browser-based application runtime that provides uncompromised viewing of expressive applications, content, and videos across browsers and operating systems. Flash Player 10.3 delivers beautiful HD video, faster graphics rendering, and high performance on mobile devices and personal computers and is designed to take advantage of native device capabilities — enabling richer, more immersive user experiences.
The Adobe® AIR® 2.7 runtime enables developers to use HTML, JavaScript, Adobe Flash® and Flex technologies, and ActionScript® to build web applications that run as standalone client applications without the constraints of a browser. Adobe AIR, a key component of the Adobe Flash Platform, unleashes the creativity of designers and developers by providing a consistent and flexible development environment for the delivery of applications across devices and platforms. About the SPA team (Standards, Productivity and Architecture):
The mission of the Standards, Productivity and Architecture team is to increase the productivity of the Flash Runtime engineering team and the quality of the Flash Runtime code base, by providing standards and tools for the engineers, and by implementing long-term design and architectural changes. More specifically, some of the things the SPA team takes care of are:
* Engineering processes (e.g. branching strategy)
* Architectural changes
* Build systems
* Integration with test automation systems
* Creating front-end tools for Flash Runtime engineers, integrating them with existing systems
As technical lead, you will contribute to starting up this team, will lead the engineering efforts and will be the main point of contact for the US team.
We are looking for senior engineers knowledgeable in some of the following areas (the more, the better):
* Experience with large-scale development (SCM, defect tracking)
* Familiarity with build systems, especially on large/multiplatform products
* Understanding the problems engineering teams working on large projects are facing
* Familiarity with web development stacks, services, databases (experience with Flash/AIR is a plus)
* Experience with high level programming languages (ideally C++)
* Proficient in scripting languages (ideally Python)
* Experience with Linux/Unix platforms (experience on OS X is a plus)
* Experience with Visual Studio (XCode is a plus)
* Experience with automated testing tools (e.g. Selenium)
* Experience with automating machine set-up (like with Puppet or Cef), and configuring web servers such as Apache or Tomcat
Besides this, all candidates must have:
* At lease 5 years of relevant experience on large/complex projects
* Previous experience on leading software development teams
* Solid understanding of software engineering best practices
* Experience in working with remote teams is a plus (with US teams is an extra plus)
* Computer science background
* Fluency in English (both written and spoken)
* Superior communication skills, both written and verbal.
* Good problem solving and diagnostic skills / debugging capabilities.
