Network / Systems Engineer required by IT Services company that provides custom tailored support services and outsourced IT services. The candidate must provide network, switch, systems and firewall administration support and maintenance for our customers and internally. The role will involve the design and architecture of complex communication solutions, monitoring network links, troubleshooting, fault finding & resolving support incidents, and providing a high level of customer service within predefined SLAs.
The role provides an opportunity to work with a broad array of technologies, including Linux servers, Cisco routers, Firewalls, TCP/IP, DNS and mail servers. The candidate should be of graduate calibre with experience supporting a variety of operating systems, experience with Cisco Routers and Switches, TCP/IP, DNS and other internet related technologies. Excellent planning, problem solving and troubleshooting skills are essential as is a customer focused approach and a passion for delivery.
Required skills and experience;
- Demonstrated ability to logically troubleshoot errors and determine their source.
- Ability to repair problems or to quickly manage their resolution in a time critical environment.
- Must have a high level of technical knowledge and the ability to handle multiple detail-oriented strategic projects simultaneously in an organized manner.
- Experience operating high availability systems.
- In depth knowledge of the Cisco security risks and stability maintenance issues.
- Familiarity with diagnostic and alerting tools
- Capacity to document presentable server/network configurations.
- Excellent knowledge of VPN's, QOS, VLAN Design, EIGRP and BGP
- Cisco VOIP experience a plus
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, English knowledge.
-Previous hands-on experience in Linux
-Knowledge of key protocols including TCP/IP, SSH, DNS, SMTP, SNMP, HTTP and LDAP and their implementation on the linux platform.
-Ability to write scripts in Perl or Bourne (bash)
