The Network Communication Software Applications Team, part of Networking & Multimedia Group within Freescale Semiconductor Romania, has the mission to provide high quality embedded networking solutions for last generation PowerQuicc communication processors. Software solutions include microcode, drivers, demo applications and benchmarking on bare board and Linux OS with strong requirement for cross-platform coding.
The Packet Telephony Software Applications Team, part of Networking & Multimedia Group within Freescale Semiconductor Romania, has the mission to provide DSP Based Software Solutions in the areas of Voice & Tone Processing, Video processing and data transmission. Software solutions include complete voice and video media gateway solutions based drivers, real-time operating systems, protocol stacks, and software components processing voice, tones, modems and fax.
Member of NMG Romania Quality & Process Improvement Team that reports to Quality Manager of NMG Romania. Network with similar teams within Freescale. Strong interaction with Engineering Compute Group for IT-related aspects.
Job purpose:
- Mantain collection of tools enabling software development process
Tools collection encompasses specific commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) or internally developed tools in area of requirements management, project management, design, code analysis, defect tracking, testing frameworks, configuration management, and other.
Job responsabilities:
- Design, develop and mantain tools for software process automation (scripts, checklists, databases etc)
- Configure, extend and mantain COTS tools, as requested by existing procedures
- Implement standard, company-wide tools
- Perform evaluation of commercial tools and recommended new tools
- Elaborate and mantain tools training material; deliver tools training to software engineers
Specific knowledge/skills:
- B.Sc. University degree, preferable in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation, Electronics
- 1-3 years experience in application software development and testing
- Good knowledge of scripting languages to provide process automation (Perl, Batch files, VB Script, other)
- Experience with SQL and relational databases, web applications, XML, reporting libraries
- Good command of english language (written and spoken)
- Ability to communicate effectively with development teams\' members
- Quality-oriented person, with attention to details and passion for finalization
- Ability to work both independently and as a team player
Experience in the following areas would be a plus:
- Configuration management (procedures, standards, versioning systems & tools, like CVS, Clearcase)
- Software development frameworks (Microsoft, IBM, Telelogic, other), for requirements management, configuration management, project planning and tracking, static code analysis
