SW Engineer for CM system & tools is a member of NMG Romania Quality Team that reports to Quality Manager of NMG Romania. He/she will interact with other Configuration Managers in FSR and other with specialists form other Freescale Semiconductor locations. He/she will work closely with Engineering Compute Group for IT-related aspects.
In this role you will bring value to the software products delivered by Freescale Romania teams, through the implementation of the CM system & tools that will optimize the software development process and make the software development process more efficient.
In this role you will have the opportunity to develop skills and competencies that can be further displayed in more compex roles ( e.g. Software Project Manager; Software Quality Coordinator etc)
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Configuration Management
- Develop and maintain the CM system (policies, standards, procedures and tools), in accordance with organizational standard process.
- Plan and execute specific CM activities
- Monitor and control CM activities performed by members of product development groups
- Define configuration management strategy and collaborate with site internal and external stakeholders to implement it
- Identify opportunities for CM improvement, plan, coordinate and execute CM improvement plans.
- Perform CM audits to maintain integrity of baselines.
- Provide training for development teams on CM system.
- Manage product repositories, in terms of security, sharing, synchronization, archiving/restoring, base lining, and recovery.
- Participate in defining CM requirements for 3rd parties or suppliers; audit 3rd party or supplier CM processes
Process Asset Library and Software Development Tools Collection
- Maintain process asset library (procedures, templates, tools)
- Create tools to support the standard development process (scripts, checklists, databases etc.)
- Maintain development process tools collection
- Configure and maintain tools as requested by the process
- Elaborate, deliver, and maintain training material
- Align CM tool collection with group initiatives
Required:
- B.Sc. University degree, preferable in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Automation, Electronics
- Experience in software development
- Scripting experience to provide process automation (Perl, batch files, VB Script, other)
- Ability to communicate effectively with development teams and general engineering staff
- Ability to build positive working relationships across the organization which spans the globe (fluent English)
- Quality-oriented person, with attention to details and results oriented attitude
- Pro-active attitude
- Experience in the following areas would be a plus:
- Experience in software build and release procedures
- Experience in Configuration Management (procedures, standards, versioning systems); experience with configuration management systems (e.g. CVS, Clear Case)
- Knowledge of SEI CMMI or ISO 9000 standards family
- Experience with SQL and relational database design
- Experience with sw development tools suites (Microsoft, IBM, Telelogic, other), for requirements management, configuration management, project planning and tracking, static code analysis
