DESCRIEREA FIRMEI

Infineon is a leading innovator in the international semiconductor industry, its products serving applications in the automotive, industrial, computer, security and chip card markets, wireless and wire line communications. Established in 1999, the company currently has about 36,000 employees worldwide, 7,300 being involved in research and development.

Infineon Technologies Romania SCS was founded in April 2005 as a subsidiary of Infineon Technologies Austria AG. Our responsibility is to provide our people with an environment that offers freedom, supports their needs, and allows such values as entrepreneurial thinking, team spirit, and creativity to be implemented.

One of the biggest Infineon Division present in the Bucharest Design Center is Chip Card & Security IC\'s business unit. In the area of chip card ICs, Infineon is the leader in technology development and product security and is number one worldwide in terms of unit sales and turnover. By the middle of 2006, the company had shipped its nine-billionth chip card IC. All of Infineon\'s chip card security controllers and security memories operate independently of the individual card configuration. Infineon\'s chip card controllers support both open operating systems, such as MultOS from Maosco or JavaTM from Sun Microsystems and native/proprietary operating systems. In 2005, Infineon had a 31% share of the entire market of around 3.45 billion chip card ICs, supplying about 1.1 billion units.
