About Adobe’s SaaS Infrastructure and Operations Business Unit
The CoreTech for SaaS group (Software as a Service) is focused on architecting and delivering web-scale infrastructure services which are used in SaaS projects inside Adobe. We are offering services as: BigData storage and processing, analytics, video processing, and authorization – together with tools and SDKs to facilitate integrating mobile devices application with the private or public cloud.
Position Summary
The Engineering Manager will be managing and leading one or more small team(s) of developers within the Adobe SaaS Infrastructure. You will have to recruit and mentor people to make them part of your team, as well as integrate contributors from other teams in the ASIT group.
You have to be very knowledgeable in scalable web architectures, distributed systems and patterns for enterprise application integration.
You will be responsible for taking specific product features through entire life cycle, from requirement analysis to delivery, meeting the reliability, performance and quality targets required in our company. ASIT is a service providing features to new Adobe SaaS products such as Photoshop Express and the related Elements product range. We expect you to lead the team to unexplored technological areas and develop innovative features.
As a people manager, you will be part of interview teams, keeping your direct reports motivated, performing appraisals for the team members and participating in management related activities in Adobe Romania.
Responsibilities:
* Drive and perform efficient communication with US teams, provide team and feature status to management
* Lead the team, plan and manage its workload by assigning work, monitoring and resolving problems, anticipating and overcoming potential conflicts and roadblocks
* Conceive, review and contribute to architectural decisions and feature specifications, both from a functional and technical standpoint
* Hands-on major contributions to the code deliverables and deployment process
* Mentor team members by providing knowledge and expertise
* Stay in touch with the latest technologies and trends, suggest new directions and solutions
* 5+ years of software development experience;
* Proven people management skills in leading teams of 3 or more and projects of 6 man/months or more
* Able to create, review and manage specifications for complex systems and negotiate conflicting features with multiple stakeholders
* Proficient in server-side development (essentially Java, but Ruby, PHP, Python, C++ etc. welcome), not afraid to tackle new technologies
* Familiar with management of operational side for clusters of Linux servers located in remote datacenters
* Top notch communication skills, able to be credible and convincing in a simple phone conversation in English, able to deliver short but high-impact presentations and pitches
* Software architect skills, familiarity with distributed architectures a big plus
