Senior Software Development Manager - Adobe Dreamweaver Team

Adobe Romania (http://myadobe.ro) is looking for a highly motivated Senior Software Development Manager to join us, as the head of the Romanian Dreamweaver Team.

The team is currently working on new Adobe products in very close relationship with Dreamweaver. We have full ownership and responsibility on these products, from product management to engineering, and you will have to run the engineering side. Along last year’s successes, the team has released the Adobe Dreamweaver Developers Toolbox) and had a huge contribution to CS3 by developing and then continuing to support the Adobe Spry Framework, together with its integration in Dreamweaver. The Romanian Dreamweaver Team is the biggest team in our office, working on products that are strategic for Adobe.

The team has 9 Developers and 6 Quality Engineers, plus one Software Development Manager and one Quality Engineering Manager. As peers, you will have a Product Manager and a Program Manager, all focused on the deliverables from the Romanian Dreamweaver Team. We see this team grow in the near future, as we take over more responsibilities.

You will be reporting directly into the local Director of Engineering, and work in very close relation with the Dreamweaver Director of Engineering, and the US Engineering team.

You have to be a senior manager, with experience in managing large software projects with many dependencies. You must be customer focused and savvy about the web industry. You have to be proficient in expressing high level concepts. Since you will be managing an impressive team, you have to exceed expectation in people and project management. You have to be familiar with different development methodologies, from waterfall to agile. As some of your work will be done through other managers, you will have to be able to delegate properly, and manage through managers. With the help of the QE Manager, you will be in charge with the quality of the products you create. You must be methodical, have optimistic view on life, be open-minded and goal-oriented. Communication is also very important in this role. You will have to be fluent in English writing and speaking. You have to be passionate about software, and understand the value that it adds in our users’ hands. Together with the Product and Program managers, you will be responsible with the whole specification and development of the products we are creating.

Responsibilities

On this job, you will:

- Work in conjunction with the US and Romanian Engineering, Product and Program management teams
- Work with the Product and the Program Manager to define features, priorities and schedule

- Lead the team, plan and manage its workload by delegating, assigning work, monitoring and resolving problems, anticipating and overcoming potential conflicts and roadblocks
- Manage through managers
- Mentor team members by providing knowledge and expertise
- Hold regular team and individual “1-1” meetings with your direct reports

- Work independently and own and implement the team development strategy
- Own product quality, development methodology, performance, security
- Review and contribute to architectural decisions and feature specifications
- Create and maintain project plans and schedules

- Stay in touch with the latest technologies and trends, especially in the web industry.
