The project this position supports is a data warehouse that accumulates, contains, and publishes data and business activities as well as key supporting information.
The data warehouse is built on a platform comprised of MS SQL Server 2008R2 (database engine and reporting services), Visual Studio 2010, MS SQL Server Business Intelligence Studio, Performance Point plus various back-end supporting software. Data are presented in the form of downloadable data, on-screen and printable reports, interactive charts, web data services (both non-spatial and spatial), and interactive, integrated, dynamic maps.
Functional Responsibility:
• Assist the various stakeholders by providing them with process and program related data as requested
• Gather reporting requirements from customer meetings, ad hoc requests, types of questions that are asked and hand them off to the development team
• Develop impactful reports using Microsoft Reporting Services platform (SSRS), MS Excel, Pivot tables and other intuitive graphical add-ons
• Design layout of reports and determine the best way to present data to end users
• Prepare required documentation
• Hands-on experience in MS SQL Server Reporting Services to develop numerous subject-specific and cross-cutting reports.
• Hands-on experience with report dataset creation, parent and child reports (sub reports), grouping, summing, interactive features such as dynamically-inserted links to other reports or websites, using external inputs to launch and filter reports, and other advanced topics such as seamless integration of SSRS reports within both authenticated and anonymous-access websites.
• The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience using the “code behind” feature of SSRS, designing and using re-usable report objects, integrating SSRS reports with ASP .NET web applications, and creating reports that meet Federal accessibility standards for computer systems and data products. Candidates must also demonstrate knowledge of report performance optimization and a basic familiarity with various data modeling approaches and nomenclature.
• Advanced skills in Excel are necessary and experience in MS Access is desirable.
• Knowledge of writing complicated yet efficient MDX code for Microsoft SQL Server 2008R2 is essential.
• Strong analytical and communication skills with the enthusiasm to learn the inner workings of a large complex system
• Results-Driven with ability to take initiatives and meet deadlines in a fast paced changing environment
Education and Training:
• Three years relevant experience
