The role is to provide Application development using Python and a number of other technologies as required by the different systems that are being integrated.
As a Sr. Python Developer, you will be given the opportunity to not only grow your development skills but continuously enhance your open source software knowledge. You will learn new business processes and automate them with today’s hottest technologies. You will work with other software developers, architects and project managers to create custom applications and help to introduce new capabilities and services for our customers. As a member of the team, you will have the chance to work on unique and innovative solutions in a variety of platforms and various verticals.
Your main tasks would be:
The project will be built on top of the Trac project management tool (wiki, SVN, tickets) and integrate a number of other open source project development tools including automated build servers, collaboration tools (IRC, IM, email, VOIP), content management repositories, and reporting tools. New development will be required to create unique tools to assist with the creation of OptAM deliverables and to facilitate teams distributed between client sites and Optaros’ global delivery centers. Application development will be done using Python and a number of other technologies as required by the different systems that are being integrated.
Preferably you have around 3 years experience in the following domains:
- Strong Java, Python, or PHP developer with ability to learn additional languages
- Familiarity with software engineering best practices and processes (requirements gathering, build processes, testing)
- Ant or Maven
- Source code management systems (Subversion, CVS) and best practices (e.g. branch management strategies)
- Linux Systems Admin Skills (at least a basic level)
- Knowledge of good development practices and methodologies is a must.
- An excellent English language skills
It would be a plus if you have knowledge on or experience in:
- Trac (Python) development
- Object Modeling/UML
- Creative mockups and Information Architecture
- Continuous Integration tools (Continuum, CruiseControl, Hudson) - Unit testing tools (JUnit, TestNG, Selenium)
- Performance testing tools
- Experience with component architectures and open source build tools
