We’re currently working with a company specializing in the development and marketing of highly trafficked web properties. The projects range from small projects in early stages of deployment, to highly trafficked websites with many thousands visitors daily. We’re looking for a developer colleague who lives in Bucharest, speaks English well, is experienced in PHP, MySQL as well as other web technologies, and who can successfully manage those projects.
Key daily tasks include
- Developing, implementing and maintaining backend applications with PHP and MySQL
- Producing and launching websites
- Performing code verifications and determining recommendations for improvement
- Analyzing processes and providing solutions to problems
We're looking for people who have
- Solid English language skills (written and spoken), strong communication skills
- Excellent programming skills, 4+ years PHP development experience
- Broad knowledge of the technology, structure & processes involved in high volume web sites (e.g. profiling PHP applications, query optimizations, etc.); being a specialist in one or more of these areas is a major bonus
- Experience in dealing with large scale websites that receive many visits per day
- Strong knowledge in dealing with large systems, including logging and reporting
- Good understanding of database engineering principles, storage engines and column types involved
- At least 6 months experience in developing scalable, high-traffic websites in general
- Experience in taking over projects, working in a team, and working with SVN
- Understanding of other people’s coding (attention is a must)
- Proactive attitude and passion for solving problems
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team
- Ability to deal with constantly changing technical priorities
- Open-mindedness and interest in learning new things
We’d be even happier if
- You have some front-end experience (HTML/JS/CSS knowledge)
- You’re familiar with NodeJS/Redis/memcache and other adjacent web technologies
- You’re familiar with server-side configurations (Apache, php.ini, unix-like systems, /etc.)
- You can show us a portfolio of successfully developed high-volume web apps
- Your CV is in English
- You have a standing reputation on any of the StackExchange websites
- You’re familiar with the internal working of Wordpress, Joomla, Magento or any other widely used platform
