Services Engineering creates engineered processes and tooling designed to improve the quality, maturity, and breadth of services we provide to our On Demand and Global Support customers. We work in concert with base development and internal IT organizations to ensure our base products and systems can be transformed into service management solutions that can be delivered in a scalable and efficient manner to our rapidly growing customer base. Services Engineering organizes all its deliverables around ITIL/Foundation Services and releases them as individual or a set of packaged service management solutions that are consumed by On Demand and Global Product Support organizations.
Oracle, not only develops many products that are required for complete enterprise level end-to-end solutions, but also hosts those solutions for the customers on a platform called "Oracle On Demand". When several of the customer instances are hosted on this large IT Infrastructure, support, operations and maintenance tasks grow exponentially. To deliver world-class service quality, the process and solution of problem management is a top priority.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
-You will be responsible for doing in-depth technical analysis on Oracle middleware products, understand product issues/resolutions, create knowledge repository and design and implement a set of programmatic frameworks or tools, which will help in problem detection and resolution
- Work closely with the other teams and businesses within Oracle to ensure successful deployment of the solutions.
-Work is non-routine and very complex, involving understanding and generating your own requirements to design and develop the proactive solutions.
- BE/MCA/MS with 6 - 8 years experience with a minimum of 3-4 years of Java/J2EE based middleware architectures, design, development, and bug diagnostics.
- Strong defect analysis capability. Instincts to standardize, simplify, and automate processes and configurations. Innovative thinking, synthesis, and analysis skills.
- Solid understanding and experience of a 24x7 high availability mission-critical application infrastructure design, architecture, development, deployment and operations involving webservers like Apache and J2EE Application Servers such as OC4J, WebSphere or WebLogic.
- Must have strong Unix and shell scripting skills
- Must be able to offer design recommendations and implementation skills geared toward proficient use, effective support and application stability, scalability and performance of the middleware
- Self-driven and a starter, who is able to be self-directed, works well in a team environment, and thrives on challenges and success.
- Strong plus – understanding of Java Virtual Machine (JVM) its memory settings and threads functionality
- Strong plus – understanding of Oracle middleware architecture
- Strong plus - understanding of core networking concepts and technologies: TCP/IP, routing, firewalls, DNS (BIND), SMTP (Sendmail, procmail), HTTP
