Key Responsibilities
Understand customer needs and design product solutions to meet those needs.
- Review and help shape marketing requirements documents.
- Anticipate problems customers will have in the future.
Analyze available technology and propose market-differentiating product features.
- Review industry datasheets and product documentation.
- Develop product feature prototypes.
Design software modules and interfaces to enable specific features through Java.
- Write functional software specifications and design documents.
- Design user interfaces and/or programmer APIs.
Monitor development of software features.
- Serve as a design resource to the implementation team.
- Review code:
Ensure that components are maintainable.
Ensure that consistent patterns are followed.
Ensure that the big picture is always considered.
- Assist with implementation and testing as necessary.
Ability to see the big picture
Ability to design for ease of use
Excellent communication and writing skills
Results oriented approach to problem solving
Proven track record of success in a fast-paced environment
10+ years’ experience designing complex Java-based software systems
Bachelor’s degree or higher
Experience with networking and switching technologies desirable
Experience with client/server technologies desirable
