- Will be responsible for delivering highway, roads design projects;
- Will lead and mentor junior level technical staff assisting in the delivery of those schemes;
- Will provide a responsive, customer focused service to external and internal clients;
- Management of the production of designs for projects according to Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB);
- Direct liaison with Client with ability to assist client in the development of project briefs;
- Management of projects to programme and budget;
- Project development including preparation of briefs, scope of works etc, completion of technical tasks as appropriate to complete the works, liaison with clients, stakeholders, other professional bodies and contractors to the company’s Quality Assurance procedures;
- Using relevant software packages;
- Direct, train and assign projects to Design Engineering AutoCAD operators personnel;
- Work closely with customers to support new application development;
- Oversee design;
- Ensure timely progress and budget reports.
Key Relationships:
- Internal – Civil, Geo-technical & Structural Engineers
- External – Client, Highways Agency; Designers.
Conditions: Will be required to attend client meetings and site visits on occasions.
PROFILE:
-University degree in Engineering; roads & bridges;
- Advanced (7 years +) experience of design engineering for roads & bridges;
- Good understanding and experience of design;
- Material cost saving experience by revising the project design;
- Fluency in English;
- Good analytical thinking, problem solving and communication skills;
- Leadership skills.
STUDIES:
Technical University, Specialization degree Roads Design Engineering;
Any other technical and management certification is an advantage.
SKILLS:
- Fluent English, both spoken and written;
- PC literacy (MS Office);
- strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving;
- a sound knowledge of computer assisted design software;
- an excellent grasp of engineering concepts and principles;
- excellent communication skills;
- able to visualize ideas;
- an appreciation of the wider business and environmental impact of design ideas;
- good team working skills.
