The SENIOR DESIGN ENGINEER / PROJECT ENGINEER (WATER/WASTEWATER) will manage the project execution from letter of intent until final account completion having sole responsibility for all contractual financial commercial and technical aspects of the project.
- May be managing more than one project at any one time and projects will be
assigned based on experience and workload.
- Ensure detailed handover from Tender Manager, completed prior to contract signing;
- Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects;
- Takes ownership of projects and project issues;
- Build and maintain good working relationship with the Client, their Engineer and (where appropriate) partners;
- Liaise closely with the Engineering Manager and team during the detailed design stage of the project;
- Managing the project procurement within defined budgets and project completion program;
- Ensuring that all the necessary documentation (e.g. signed subcontracts, bonds etc) is in place for all major subcontractors/suppliers;
- Monitoring progress of the Works and adherence to the project program;
- Apply procedures in place related to contract execution;
- Anticipate training of operating personnel and handing over of the plant to the operating company;
- Manage the Project Team both on and off site to ensure that they are motivated and fully understand what is expected of them.
- Degree qualified in Hydro Engineering /Project Management or equivalent;
- 4 to 6 years previous experience in the design and construction of major water treatment plant works;
- Experience in water related projects;
- Good knowledge of QA procedures;
- Excellent communication skills and leadership qualities;
- Experience on the design and construction of wastewater treatment facilities;
- An understanding of present wastewater treatment processes and operational aspects of wastewater treatment plants;
- Ability to lead a small design team working on a range of projects;
- Suitably qualified and have considerable experience managing all aspects of a wide range of building contracts;
- Proven track record in a related post;
- Experience of delivering projects against time, quality, safety and budgetary objectives;
- Possess excellent knowledge and communicational skills;
- Excellent communication and analytical skills required;
- Capability of building and maintaining an effective working relationship with all key stakeholders and members of staff;
- Monitoring and supervising all aspects of different projects;
- A professional and enthusiastic disposition is required of the successful candidate with a strong technical knowledge of the operational aspect of managing and supervising construction / development projects;
- Fully competent in all aspects of building technology, coupled with a strong familiarity with the design process;
- Excellent interpersonal skills with good site based knowledge and experience on a broad range of projects in the construction sector.
- Fluent English, both spoken and written;
- PC literacy (MS Office);
- Have a sound knowledge of building construction techniques and materials;
- Budget management skills;
- Methodical approach to work;
- Well organized;
- Understand Building Regulations and other relevant legal guidelines;
- Excellent communication and negotiating skills;
- Able to work as part of a team;
- Ability to work on own initiative and stamp authority on projects;
- Self motivated;
- Flexibility.
