Our client is a very successfull European bank.
The regional Agricultural Asset Manager will be responsible for analysing and advising on rural investments for our client, and managing these investments on behalf of the Fund in accordance with its longer term objectives and interest as defined in the fund documentation.
You will perform these duties throughout Romania.
Responsibilities include:
- Management on behalf of the Fund, from a local operations, relationship and control perspective, to ensure that the local operations are being run in accordance with the local Fund's investment objectives and in the interest of the investors, making sure that the risks at an operational level are adequately recognised and monitored, and that there is an appropriate level of control.
- Management of the ongoing relationship with the local operator/partners. Working with them at an operational level, applying an appropriate level of management and supervision on the local operator/partner. This will include the development and monitoring of operational and capital cash flow projections.
- Participation in the decision making process of the strategic plan and annual budgets and forecasts for each partnership, in line with the local Fund' s longer term investment objectives and interests, ensure that all strategic decisions made are being adequately translated into tactical goals and objectives, ensuring that these tactical goals and objectives are implemented at an operational level.
- Prepare & Review the quarterly (financial) management report. Preparation of any necessary edits where required. Also, formally propose (to the local IMC) any major changes to the agreed budgets (eg capex requirements for development purposes).
- Provide (and where required present) the Investment Committee (IMC) with several reports. This could include an individual annual report on the asset and partnership.
- Review of partnership and other management agreements with Europe IMC and independently report on the adherence to these agreements by the partner.
- In conjunction with the partner seek additional acquisition opportunities (where this forms part of a developed strategy) and where applicable produce an initial purchase proposal.
- Management and supervision of the due diligence process on possible acquisitions.
- Coordinate and attend all annual asset valuations with the external valuer / appraiser.
- Ensure that the partners are not taking advantage of the Fund's equity and breaching any agreements or arrangements, such as preferential treatment with their own properties.
- Collateral management.
- Maintain a close and regular dialogue with the IMC management.
- Maintain a close dialogue with a number of local professions (i.e. banks, accountants, consultants etc), such as the banks branch to keep abreast of possible opportunities , maintain a strong relationship and obtain market knowledge.
- Maintain industry knowledge through the attendance to local field days, training, industry events and external farm visits.
- Be available for partner support as & when reasonably required.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and observe strict confidentiality at all times.
This role requires a high level of expertise and experience in the primary sector and a deep understanding of the location and community. The person holding this position is personable and capable of working with farm operators, and at the same time understand and protect the interests, needs, objectives and requirements of the investors on whose behalf the local Fund is investing in the land and/or farm operations.
Your skill set and background:
- You will have a university degree in Finance or Economics
- understanding cash flow monitoring and management
- You have gained tangible experience in agricultural /farm land related projects that involve acquisitions and asset management
- strong understanding of financial analysis and project management skills
- excellent written/oral communication and negotiation skills in Romanian and English
- experience of working in an international company with best practice orientation is considered a big plus
