Job description
The Flash Platform Services team is developing exciting ways for developers to deploy AIR applications and is adding a position of Quality Engineer. In this role you will help deliver a high-value user experience for AIR application developers and publishers as well as testing Adobe’s products. Primary responsibilities include reviewing, vetting and validating AIR applications for delivery in both the Adobe AIR Marketplace and partner storefronts. Additionally, you will be asked to test internally-developed software and follow quality standards for Adobe products. You will be expected to show initiative in your efforts as well as follow the directions of others. You will also be required to write code and scripts to enable automation of certain parts of the application vetting process.

Responsibilities
• Following the standard vetting process, review submitted AIR applications to ensure they meet Adobe legal standards for content.
• Collect data to be used for statistical and measurement purposes to improve Adobe’s ability to move AIR applications efficiently through the vetting process.
• Work closely with the US-based team to stay abreast of changing requirements, processes and services.
• Critically think about how our customers will interact with Adobe’s products and turn those thoughts into suggestions to improve the customer’s experience with our products.
• Occasionally, file bugs and verify bug fixes in the components of the product related to application vetting and validation.
• Contribute to scripts or source code that automate certain parts of the application vetting process
• Secondary responsibilities will include black-box, manual UI testing of client-side web applications written in Flex, PHP and Ruby-on-Rails
Requirements
• Strong written and verbal English language skills.
• Advanced computer user skills, including but not limited to use of virtual machine images (e.g. VMWare), running of scripts, launching and using applications, etc.
• At least 2-3 years experience in a work environment demonstrating the skills listed above.
• Must be detail-oriented and methodical, able to strictly follow defined processes, record data regarding these processes, and update any reports related to these activities.
• Some knowledge of Windows and Mac OS systems.
• 2-3 years Programming experience in Perl, Python, UNIX Shell, Flex, ActionScript, or similar technologies.
• Prior quality assurance or quality engineering experience
Ideal
• BA or BS degree, preferably in a technical or scientific field, but other fields may be acceptable.
• Prior experience using and managing virtual machine technology and/or running scripts written in Perl, Python, or related technologies.
• Experience using an AIR- or Flex-based application would be preferred, especially with experience automating such applications
• Prior experience working with a US-based team.
