Main responsibilities
Reviewing applications
¿ Analyses the software applications functionalities
¿ Review for common security holes and possible weaknesses ¿ try to break the application by looking at source code, adjusting URL parameters, executing security check tools, etc.
¿ Verify guide/help text that appears in the application for accuracy
Bugs tracking
¿ Report bugs with complete notes describing full details of the bug
¿ Test all paths through the application ¿ all buttons, text/input fields, options, etc.
¿ Regressive testing of existing functionality
¿ Follow-up on completed/patched bugs to re-verify them
¿ Review and report on application usability ¿ is it easy to use/understand
¿ Review and report on look and feel ¿ is it attractive and appealing
¿ Use testing tools to automate and execute tests
¿ Correctly tag bug severity as blocker, major, normal, etc.
Writing and Revising documentation
¿ Analyze the software manual/documentation to check accuracy
¿ Build up specific QA test documentation ¿ test plan, test check list, etc.
Communication and Decision making
¿ Follows-up on regular basis via e-mail, Jabber or phone on its own bugs
¿ Analyses the risk level and makes decision suggestions for product launches
¿ Must have good English reading/writing skills; spoken English is a plus
¿ Submit weekly reports on test results for multiple applications
¿ Use test results to approve/deny releases
Required skills
¿ Programming experience (professional or academic) in several programming languages such as: C/C++, Java, Python, Perl, Ruby
¿ General understanding of web-based applications, HTML and server-side processing.
¿ Strong analytic mindset, the ability to decompose complex problems into simpler components, and the ability to organize and track complicated project plans.
¿ Ability to multitask, working on multiple projects in parallel
Preferred skills
¿ Excellent written and verbal communications expected as well as commitment to quality
¿ Experience using version/change control systems (CVS, Perforce, ClearCase, Visual SourceSafe, etc.)
¿ Experience using bug-tracking packages (Bugzilla, Jira, DevTrack, etc.)
¿ Previous software testing or quality assurance experience
