The Product Installer Engineer is a member of the Software Configuration Management team. He/She participates on cross-functional product teams focused on the release of high quality products within budget and schedule. Participation requires production of multiple project installer deliverables across multiple product teams within a limited time frame. Hence, time management and prioritization is critical.
He/She is responsible for the functional specification, design, implementation, testing and support of installation programs for a broad range of Ixia products. Functional requirements are established by a cross-functional product team. The candidate must be able to gather requirements, assemble prototypes, provide reliable effort estimates, identify and take ownership of the resolution of design issues.
As a member of the SCM team, the candidate provides second-level support for the operation of the build automation framework, and assistance to the development community regarding source code control and change management procedures
- Product Installer Design and Implementation
- Experience in product installer frameworks, i.e., InstallShield, Wise
- Windows Installer Service (MSI)
- Experience in cross-platform development environments. (Windows, Linux, Solaris)
- Scripting knowledge: Python, VBScript
- Good knowledge of programming languages: C/C++, C#
- Experience with source code control systems
- Experience in the use and improvement of defect tracking systems is a plus
- Experience producing product release notes is a plus
- Should be able execute multiple priority items with total commitment to quality
- Highly organized and possessing a keen analytical and structured approach to problem solving.
- Very strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
- BS in Computer Science/Electronics/Electrical Engineering or a related technical discipline.
