We are looking for a Principal Software Engineer to work as part of a global team in developing applications using Java/XML and applying various knowledge management techniques to gain new insights on the data coming from our customers. This will directly contribute to problem management initiatives to further improve the services we deliver to our customers. The individual must have completed graduate level studies in the field of Computer Science or an equivalent degree, Experience with Java and be able to evaluate, adapt and master technologies in the problem detection and resolution domain.

The team:

The Services Engineering team in Oracle provides service solutions to our On Demand software as a service (SaaS) and Global Support customers. We work in concert with base development and internal IT organizations to ensure our base products and systems can be transformed into service management solutions that can be delivered in a scalable and efficient manner to our rapidly growing customer base.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Create a knowledge framework and design and implement a set of programmatic frameworks or tools, which will help in problem detection and resolution.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others.
Collect and analyze information on company operations.
Design, develop and implement system event models or algorithms to identify and analyze incidents.
Develop ways of measuring and reporting operational effectiveness. Analyze, design and implement complex business systems.
Meeting users to discuss application requirements;
Evaluating requirements and technical limitations with users; Liaising with technical architects & delivery teams to ensure technical consistency
Reviewing the prototype with users to ensure it meets business and usability requirements;
Develop thought leadership, advice and guidance on the approach to the design of applications;
To develop and maintain direct relationships with the appropriate external and internal stakeholders;
To be able to work effectively as part of a global distributed team.


CERINTE

Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent degree with 8+ years of experience;
Experience in developing complex software systems using Java/XML a must;
Knowledge of full project lifecycle - from initial consultation to delivery;
Experience of working with global development teams an advantage; Experience of working with Oracle development tools & technologies an advantage;
Experience in designing and implementing knowledge-based systems, autonomic products a plus.
Strong defect analysis and system modeling capability. Instincts to standardize, simplify, and encode problem knowledge into impactful solutions.
Proven track record to take onboard new methodologies/technologies and master them.
Experience/Familiarity in any of the following fields is an advantage : network modeling, natural language processing, machine learning, information extraction, text classification, data mining, summarization, probabilistic graphical models, Probability.
Preference will be given to candidates with research and work related experience/exposure with the use of Bayesian networks to model system behavior; Taxonomy and ontology to encode knowledge semantics; Data mining and learning techniques as well as candidates who can demonstrate superior analytical and problem solving skills.
