· The Operational Support System (OSS) Developer is responsible for the specification, testing and
delivery of end to end network management solutions to the business.
· The OSS Developer is responsible for the quality and stability of Operational Support Systems
solutions.
· The integration areas consist of:
- Element monitoring
- Service management
- Business management
- Configuration management
- Provisioning
- Authentication
- Performance management
- Incident & problem management
- Asset management
- Fraud management,
- Security management
Responsibilities
· Understand the customer’s network and application architecture.
· Liaise with applications experts, operations staff and users to determine fault management
requirements.
· Design, develop, document and implement OSS solutions as per operational and/or business
requirements.
· Design and configure higher level features such as fault, performance, service and inventory
management.
· Develop, configure and install Event Correlation Services (ECS) circuits.
· Assist with the requirements definition, design and implementation of new element manager systems
when required.
· Clearly document all work undertaken for handover to the operations team.
· Contribute to the review and sign-off internal and external OSS programme deliverables.
· Provide support to Service Delivery if needed with technical issues.
· Excellent knowledge of HP OVPI, HP OVIS, Service Desk, SIP.
· Excellent knowledge on HP OpenView Network Node Manager - NNM
· Strong knowledge on HP OpenView Operations – OVO
· Strong knowledge on HP TeMIP
· Strong knowledge on IBM NetCool
· Strong knowledge on C programming
· Bourne Shell, C Shell, Perl, VB Scripting
· IP & Radio network architecture knowledge will be a plus
· Strong knowledge on Unix system Administration and application support (preferably in Solaris or HPUX),
Windows, Linux
· Strong knowledge on Oracle Database. SQL will be a plus
· Strong understanding of TIBCO, Oracle and J2EE
· Strong understanding of application server technology (including Weblogic)
· HP Event Correlation Services (ECS) design will be a plus.
· Experience in ISP/Telecom environment will be a plus
· Strong knowledge of communication technologies and protocols relevant to application management
and internet service providers (CORBA, Q3/ CMIP, ASCII over TCP/IP, SNMP , HTTP, DNS)
· Provide support to OSS Ops if needed with OSS technical issues.
· Knowledge of others Network Management Systems / Element Management Systems or platforms
would be a benefit.
· Understand telecom standards and management protocols (ITU-T, TMF, IETF, OMG)
