• Proactive monitoring and customer networks using network management tools and procedures
• Remote troubleshooting and partners collocations in Romania
• Professional and courteous customer interaction via various channels including telephone, e-mail, and face-to-face meetings.
• Interaction with other engineers for service escalations.
• Interaction with vendors for Level 3 technical support queries.
• Hands-on role, which involves server, network or hosting support and maintenance.
• Liaison with colocation service and support providers
• Troubleshoot ISP installations
• Onsite hardware replacements, internal environments and ISP (remote) environments across Romania. N.B. Some intra-country travel may be required.
• Onsite installation work, environment builds, etc
• Colo equipment specification / purchasing
• Scaling of colocation provision including servers / bandwidth / power
• DNS, server software, certificate and colocation inventory management
• Office IT Support and office equipment procurement
• A UNIX (preferably Linux) background is essential
• Successful candidate will have three to ten years' related experience including: knowledge of ISP carrier offerings, ISP network infrastructure, understanding of web applications, ability to follow operational procedures as well as proactively recommend process optimizations.
• Perl scripting abilities, Knowledge and experience of Open Source software (compilation, installation, configuration etc)
• Willingness and ability to work 24/7 shift(s)
• Thorough knowledge of routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, DNS, general network management
• Ability to work in isolation when on shift duty, and prioritise work
• Basic DBA knowledge, with some experience of SQL
