The Network Communication Software Applications Team, part of Networking & Multimedia Group within Freescale Semiconductor Romania, has the mission to provide high quality embedded networking solutions for last generation PowerQuicc communication processors. Software solutions include microcode, drivers, demo applications and benchmarking on bare board and Linux OS with strong requirement for cross-platform coding.
The Packet Telephony Software Applications Team, part of Networking & Multimedia Group within Freescale Semiconductor Romania, has the mission to provide DSP Based Software Solutions in the areas of Voice & Tone Processing, Video processing and data transmission. Software solutions include complete voice and video media gateway solutions based drivers, real-time operating systems, protocol stacks, and software components processing voice, tones, modems and fax.
An opportunity exists to be part of the Worldwide team focused on the development of application software solutions for our range of data path processing and communications products. The successful candidate will be an integral part of our engineering & customer support organization, working closely with our internal development teams, customer’s technical teams and directly interfacing with other Freescale engineering teams worldwide. This varied and challenging engineering role involves working with the leading telecommunications systems producers and offers opportunities for travel. This is a high profile hands on role primarily software focused with internal systems and reference design support. As this post involves a high level of multi site engineering and some customer interaction, good communications skills, an aptitude for program management and an enthusiastic attitude are essential prerequisites. Designing and developing complex software applications both at component and systems levels are a key part of this role. Therefore, this position offers excellent opportunities to demonstrate and develop technical and many other professional skills.
The main responsibilities of this position are listed below:
- Take ownership and support for micro code source code (OPENQE).
- Provide technical expertise to support in-house help desk, product marketing, systems and software and sales teams. Also demonstrate product features / verify customer issues.
- Interface with customers’ technical teams during their design and system bring-up activities as required.
- Technical Support for selected Freescale semiconductor products/IP e.g.PowerQUICC, DSP, Quicc Engine with main focus on Quicc Engine data path based products.
- Generation of Technical Publications e.g. Training Material, Process development and improvements, Applications Notes, Design Concepts, and Technical Articles
- Provide technical training on software products for customer engineers and other Freescale engineers
Specific knowledge/skills:
- Degree in Software or Electronics Engineering or related discipline is essential.
- Knowledge of multi protocols (layers 2, 3, 4), microprocessors is essential.
Knowledge in any of the following areas is a major benefit:
- Working knowledge of communications systems and protocols.
- C / C++ programming.
- Embedded systems / tools / software.
- Digital signal processing.
- Embedded Operating systems (e.g. Linux)
- Quality systems to SEI CMM level 3
- You will also have a proven track record in problem solving and working in multi-disciplined teams.
- Good written, verbal and communications skills with proficiency in English Language.
