RESPONSABILITATI

Missions:

The main tasks and missions of the Level Artist are to:

o Analyse the game design documents to know the environments, objects, atmospheres, story, and style in order to build his/her own level(s);
o Identify the visual references and respect the chosen artistic direction;
o Suggest precise graphic references that are specific to his/her game level(s);
o Masters the tool installation methods and their settings, the project’s file nomenclature system, and the data updating processes in the engine, and follow all of the instructions of the technical director – graphics;
o Deliver documents that list and present the graphical content of the levels (objects, environments, atmosphere, lighting, styles, etc.);
o Help estimate, with the PM – modelling, the planning per priority and level;
o Build the rough map of the level with the level designer to show and get approval for the first graphical intentions and gameplays;
o Help establish the modelling and texture needs, place the order with the map modellers and texturers, and follow up the progress and quality of the work with the PM-modelling;
o Integrate the produced objects and textures into the level;
o Create the architectural and lighting elements of the level and integrate them;
o Take initiatives in his/her map by, for example, adjusting the size of the pieces according to gameplay situations, after assessment with the level designer;
o Make suggestions to set the properties of each of the objects in his/her map (e.g.: movement, collision, lighting effects, SFX, sound, etc.);
o Execute autonomously the debug for his/her level;
o Verify the quality of the maps once they are imported into the game and make any necessary improvements;
o Correct the bugs entered by the testers to eliminate any anomalies;

o Good understanding of the 3D Max software.

o Good understanding of the Adobe Photoshop software.
o
o Understanding of Photoshop's role in creating game art and texture maps.
o Understanding of the role of custom textures applied to 3D models.
o Understanding of UV textures and how they map 2D textures to 3D objects.
o Good communication skills and an ability to work as a part of a team.

The Level Artist executes autonomously the graphical content of one or several game levels and delivers a work that can be successfully integrated, taking the technological constraints and artistic direction into account.
