Department Description:
Developer Technology (DevTech) at Freescale Semiconductor, Inc. is responsible for developing tools that enable software development for a variety of embedded software development markets, including Network/Communications, Wireless handset and infrastructure, and Transportation industries. Some major customers include Motorola, Nokia, Ericsson, Cisco, BMW, and many others. Developer Technology products consist of debuggers, compilers, performance analysis tools, simulators, board support packages, board connection devices, and a full featured IDE. Internal tools team supports the developers in the Developer Technology team by creating and maintaining software tools for a global automation infrastructure, which allow for continuous build and test.
Development targets include the entire Freescale silicon product portfolio: Digital Signal Processors and Controllers (e.g. StarCore), 32-bit Microcontrollers and Processors (e.g. Power Architecture, ColdFire), 8/16-bit Microcontrollers, 2.5G-3G+ Cellular Platforms, etc.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
Primary responsibility is to maintain embedded hardware, ensure their connectivity and usage of automation software tools in a global build and test infrastructure. A successful candidate will have the ability to develop quality automation, analyze infrastructure issues to provide rapid support to development teams, and determine root cause of failures. Candidate is responsible for the setup and troubleshooting of hardware, including development boards, computer machines, and connection devices. Responsibilities include writing modular, sustainable, and documented code using scripting languages.
- University degree, preferable in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering;
- Knowledge of scripting programming language - such as TCL, Perl;
- Understanding of embedded development platforms
- Understanding of networking concepts – TCP/IP
- Understanding of Windows and UNIX system programming and hardware architecture
- Excellent communication skills
- Team spirit, able to cooperate and work under pressure;
- Good English command.
The following skills would bring an advantage:
- Experience with VMWare virtualization
- Previous experience in development of automated test software;
- Knowledge of software quality, software development process, version control systems (such as CVS);
