The primary objective of our Java / J2EE Software Engineer is to participate in the development and maintenance efforts of web applications. This individual leverages their knowledge of analysis, design, coding, testing, and maintenance of software applications to develop, enhance, and modify web applications. The Java / J2EE Junior Software Engineer is expected to assist with the conceptualization of software solutions at both the unit level, and at the system level, ie. integrated applications. This individual demonstrates an understanding of the latest development environments including development tools and applications.
The Software Engineer will work under the direction and supervision of our Chicago based office so availability to work outside standard business hours (11am-7:30pm) and English proficiency are a must
Required Skills / Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering Business Administration, or a related field
- 1-3 years of experience using standard technologies like SQL, HTML, CSS, Javascript, as well as JEE technologies like Servlets, JSP, Spring Framework, Hibernate, Tomcat, etc.
- Strong understanding of Java best practices, system scalability, and performance tuning
- Proficient in database concepts - tables, joins and SQL
- Experience in developing UI in Java based on Web 2.0 technologies such as GWT, AJAX, JQuery, Dojo and proficiency in Javascript is a plus
- English proficiency is a must
Preferred Additional Skills
- Experience in GWT (Google Web Toolkit)
- Oracle Application Server 10g/11g
- Basic knowledge of Unix/Linux
- C# application development
