* Manage the TSD - Precision components & Wheels team Turbo business.
Key responsibilities of the position include:
* Execution of sourcing and supplier development strategies for
Precision and Wheels commodity.
* Driving global annual plan objectives.
* Optimizing supplier base size.
* Driving compliance to regulatory, customer and industry quality
requirements through continual improvement and the use of Six
Sigma, Manufacturing Process Control tools and methods.
* Teaming with other business functions to ensure that assigned
suppliers are capable of new product launches and incremental business
growth to meet/ exceed customer performance objectives. Main interface
with Platform teams.
* Benchmarks manufacturing processes and drives implementation of best
practices.
* Reports performance of key metrics.
Key Success Factors:
In order to succeed the employee will need to: * Have expertise on machining for precision components (eg; grinding),
investment casting and Molding Injection Metal (MIM)
* Communicate in a clear and concise manner with all business functions
and suppliers
* Excellent personal organisation.
* Have a creative and innovative problem solving approach.
* Interface with a broad team composed of members from different
locations. Manage remote and diverse team.
* Have hands on management approach.
* Manage large quantities of data in a methodical and rigorous manner.
Attributes/Skills Required
* Generic:
o Geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GDT)
o Time analysis. Statistical process control
o Material knowledge
o Superior communication skills. The ability to influence, stimulate and
energize suppliers.
* Specific:
o Metallurgy/ FEA/ Investment casting and MIM
o Machining processes/ Tools design
o Gauging/ fixture design/assembly
o Manufacturing Process auditing
o Quality practices: APQP, PPAP, FMEA, ISO TS
* Fluent spoken and written English. Knowledge of a second language is a
plus.
* University Graduate, Mechanical specialty
* Previous working experience of minimum seven years, preferable in
automotive industry.
* Experience in a managerial position.
* Lean expert/Green Belt is a plus
