Position Summary
Imagine your Mondays as exciting as Fridays, having an impact, being part of an entrepreneurial team where you count and creating the best customer profiling technology. As a member of the Big Data Operations team you will design and implement the profiling database, which will provide grounding for big data analytics technology and tools. You will deal with the challenges and enjoy the opportunities of setting up a new project/system from scratch. You will interact with an international team of passionate IT geeks and business analysts located in Romania, Germany and The Netherlands to address business challenges that leverage big data.
Performance objectives
Starting from day one you will familiarize yourself with the main customer communication systems, their architecture and data collecting capabilities. Within one month you understand the software- and hardware architecture of the systems, so that you can start setting up the prototype of the profiling database, collect relevant web data streams and optimize their storage.
In addition, within the first six months you will design, implement and launch version one of Avira’s Customer Profiling Database. The database will scale transparently for a very large user base, be cost effective and provide high performance, low maintenance and redundancy.
A year into the job you have connected Avira’s Customer Profiling Database to other applications such as Campaign Manager and are able to perform data clustering and data mining on it.
Your qualifications:
University degree in computer science or training in the area of IT
Experience in software development and/or quality assurance/test automation in the IT security sector
Knowledge and experience of test methods and test processes
Skilled in programming and scripting (e.g. Python, Perl, Selenium, AutoIt)
Ability to adapt complex issues quickly
Independence, initiative, and organizational ability
Good communication skills
For reaching these objectives you must bring along:
Minimum 2 years Hadoop/HBase database experience
MapReduce data processing experience
PHP, Python or Java experience
Experience with data-intensive projects that require coding performance optimizations (in the code itself, in the database, or at an architectural level)
Having the following is NOT A MUST, but constitutes a strong advantage:
Other NoSQL database experience
Advanced MySQL knowledge
Experience with multiple programming languages (C#, Ruby, JavaScript)
Experience with handling large amounts of data (usage of Apache Lucene, Solr)
Experience with customer profiling and campaign management systems
