The role

For our client, a leading provider of integrated agricultural solutions, we are looking for a Group Budgeting and Reporting Manager.

The role includes strategic planning, budgeting & reporting, business controlling and treasury management responsibilities.


The Company

The Company provides farming products and services, as well as technical and financial consultancy to farmers and industries processing farming products. It staffs 700 employees across four companies. The company, which has posted increased revenues last quarter, continuing previous positive trend, has initiated in 2008 a transformation process to modernize seed research and development facilities which continues in 2009. Having introduced a new business model, the company will continue to transform its operations across all major areas.

Scope of the role

Budgeting and planning

- Preparing various reports for Board meetings
- Coordinating planning, budgeting and forecasting
- Participating in capital allocation (budgeting) decisions/ financial modeling
- Participating in forecasting and cash flow management (on a weekly/ monthly basis)
- Participating in some major projects (activity based costing, Navision implementation – business plans for group divisions, implementing the KPI’s inside company etc.)
- Preparation, consolidation and distribution of company budgets and periodic forecasts
- Making recommendations for improving the financial operations and the financial position of the company
- Developing, implementing and maintaining financial policies, procedures and systems to ensure financial reporting accuracy and asset protection
- Coordination of monthly closing process
- revision of monthly end adjustments (accruals, provisions for payables, receivables, inventories, fixed assets)
- reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
- preparation of monthly reporting (Balance sheet, Profit and Loss Statement, Cash Flow for each entity)
- deferred tax calculation
- inter-companies reconciliation statements
- analyses of variance and evolution of performance and financial actual indicators compared to the budget / previous periods and forecast
- preparation of consolidated financial statements
- supervision of accounting transactions in order to ensure proper classification of transactions according to the profit/cost centers
- cost centre analysis against budgets, forecasts

Business Controlling

- Monitoring the budget by reviewing reports and accounting records to determine if allocated funds have been spent as specified
- Providing reasons for the variations in case of deviations between the approved budget and actual performance and developing corrective measures in the case of negative actual/ budget deviations
- Setting up, reviewing and maintaining a standard costing system to reasonable/ accurate levels
- Responsible for ensuring the client credit controlling procedures are respected at the level of group/ division, according with the commercial policy
- Designing projects financial scores templates in compliance with corporate planning & performance management guidelines
- Advising management on financial resources, trends, and the results of operations
- Verifying journal and ledger entries of cash and payments, purchases, expenses, and trial balances by examining and auditing inventory items
- Preparing reports for management, reporting financial conditions, detailing the source and application of funds
- Controlling all the inter-company transactions, managing the reconciliations – monthly or when necessary
- Making recommendations for improving the financial operations and the position of the company
- Liaising with tax specialists, lawyers, auditors to ensure legal compliance, at a minimum cost to the company

Treasury Management

- Reviewing the cash position of the Group and plans the maintenance of adequate funds through cash and other financial forecasts
- Supervising cashing activities including the examination of accounts payable invoices
- Making recommendations for the investment of the company’s surplus funds and manage a loan portfolio
