The Packet Telephony Software Components Team, part of Networking & Multimedia Group within Freescale Semiconductor Romania has the mission to provide DSP Based Software Solutions in the areas of Voice & Tone Processing, Video processing and data transmission.
Scope of Responsibilities/Expectations:
- Modeling and simulation of voice and/or tone processing modules using Matlab
- Creating new algorithms for improving the performance of voice and tone processing software components
- Design, develop, optimize and test voice and tone processing software components using development suites for Freescale\' s DSP platforms
- Involvement in the delivery process of the voice and tone processing components to various customers
- Provide remote or on-site support to our customers in Europe or North America for the voice and tone processing components (on a needed basis)
Skills and knowledge
To succeed as Embedded Software Engineer for Signal Processing Applications, it is desired that our candidates have knowledge or are willing to develop their skills in some of the following areas:
- Frequency / time domain analysis
- Speech coding / decoding fundamentals
- Data transmission protocols (fax/modem, error correction, data compression)
- Dignal enhancement (equalization, filtering techniques, noise reduction, echo cancellation)
- C programming for embedded systems (preferable on multiple platforms), assembly language programming, fixed point, float to fixed point arithmetic conversion
- Matlab and associated toolboxes
- Knowledge in the area of Internet Protocol stack (IP, UDP, TCP, RTP, RTCP)
- Good command of English language (written and spoken)
It will be considered a plus if you have knowledge or experience in scripting languages (Perl, Tcl/Tk etc) and/or knowledge of configuration management tools ( CVS, subversion, Clear Case etc)
