The successful engineer will primarily develop and deliver software for a real time telecommunication systems. Activities include all phases of development from the initial product definition through architecture, design, code, testing phases to release to manufacturing and maintenance (bug-fixing the system).
The candidate will be a member of a team of Object Oriented C++ embedded developers working on leading edge telephony, data networking, and VoIP product. The candidate will be responsible for low level design and implementation based on a high level design document as well as definition and execution of development testing. The candidate will also participate in design reviews, code inspections, requirements definition, and test plan and customer documentation reviews. The developer will also address customer problems with existing products or assist colleagues in debugging other designs. We are seeking a hands-on developer who is a fast learner and team player, working closely with other developers, testers and field engineers.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
- Degree in a relevant discipline
- Minimum of 2 years C++/OO commercial development experience, preferably in real time embedded software development C++ or C
- Self motivated and able to quickly grasp the essence of existing systems
- Excellent debugging skills
- Good communication skills in English -- both verbal & written
- Personal commitment to quality
- Ability to work in multi-discipline teams
- Problem Solving
Experience in some of the following technologies would be desirable:
- Development of telephony products
- Development of H.323, TCP/IP, SIP or other VOIP products
- An understanding and/or an appreciation of telephony standards/IETF protocols is necessary.
- Wireless technologies and mobility.
- Network security.
- Business communications applications (Visual C++ or similar)
- Embedded Linux based real-time solutions.
Willing to work remote in UK or US for several months
