Purpose of the Role:
To organise creation of the editorial content of the Romanian edition of … magazine. Ensure that the magazine is attractive, contemporary and relevant to its readers and advertisers.
Position in the Business:
- Reports on a solid basis to the Editorial Director, International, who is based in the US.
- Reports on a dotted basis to the Country Manager. Is part of the Bucharest management team and is required to play an active role in the Romanian business strategy.
- Responsible for the editorial team within Romania.
- As part of a global editorial team, will be required to work with and contribute ideas to this group.
Key Responsibilities:
30% People Management:
- Required to lead and motivate the editorial team.
- Ensure that the team are talented, trained and are delivering the requirements of the Romanian magazine.
10% Financial Management:
- Responsible for ensuring that the Romanian magazine is managed in line with budgets and ensure that all costs are monitored closely.
50% Editorial:
- Responsible for establishing editorial policy and direction while adhering to … global magazine guidelines.
- Achieve an agreed level of local editorial material and ensuring its accuracy and relevance.
- Ensure that the advertising content of the magazine is honest, in good taste and clearly differentiated from editorial. Work in partnership with the Ad Sales Director.
- Promote editorial content amongst advertisers, opinion-makers and other external parties.
- Ensure that the Magazine and … brand obtains positive publicity in local media.
10%
- Lending an editorial perspective to company decision-making and helping to achieve the overall objectives of the business by working with other department heads and country manager, taking into account their differing needs and objectives.

Education and Skills:
- Good knowledge of English, written and spoken
- Educated to degree level.
- Budgeting skills.
- Strong editing and writing skills.
- Good eye for visuals and design
- Familiar with common publishing tools like Quark XP and In Design.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years experience as an Editor within a quality mass market magazine or quality newspaper/ supplement.
- Proven track record in leading and developing an editorial team of five or bigger staff.
- Proven track record in bringing positive change to titles that he/she has worked on.
- Experience in representing their company at external events and obtaining PR for the magazine.
- Well connected in the industry.
