The Database Manager will work within a team devoted to implementing and maintaining a portion of the application code for the flagship product of the company. Key responsibilities include:
-Performing product database builds using Sybase, Oracle, and MS SQL;
- Performing localization database builds;
- Maintaining the localization kit;
- Using the localization kit to perform string imports and exports for the Localization Coordinator;
- Reviewing technical specifications for any database schema changes;
- Helping complete technical specifications by filling in any needed SQL queries and testing those queries;
- Implementing applications using system integration skills (e.g., XML, SQL, and JavaScript);
- Escalating technical questions to the Technical Team Lead and database build or SQL questions to the HQ-based Database Manager;
In addition, the Database Manager will be required to perform applications engineering tasks, working closely with the Applications Engineers. Responsibilities in that area include:
- Writing SQL and database update code;
- Writing workflow rules;
- Creating and modifying client application user interfaces (HTML, XML, XSL, JavaScript);
- Creating unit tests and test data for the applications;
- Testing the applications;
- Responding to escalated questions from QA on the application;
- Fixing bugs;
On behalf of our client, world leader in development and distribution of CAD software, we are searching for a Database Manager that must have:
-Expertise in working with, administrating, and managing Sybase, Oracle, and MS SQL databases;
- Strong experience in writing SQL queries;
- Experience with BasicScript is strongly desired. Experience with a scripting language such as BasicScript, JavaScript, or Visual Basic is required;
- Experience with a source code control system such as StarTeam or Visual Source Safe;
- Ability to create scripts and test;
- Web application experience (HTML, Java Script, SQL);
- Experience with a programming language (e.g. C#, ASP.Net, Java);
- Detailed knowledge of Windows operating system;
- Understanding of software development processes;
- Windows-based coding/scripting skills preferred;
- Exceptional critical thinking with a high level of motivation to learn;
- Proven ability to take ownership of projects and responsibilities;
- Ability to communicate effectively with product teams and general engineering staff; ability to build positive relationships across the organization;
- Strong ability to successfully manage concurrent deliverables on time and with quality within fast-paced environment and under deadlines;
- Fluency in written English;
- Excellent interpersonal skills (verbal and written);
- This position requires 1 to 3 years of equivalent professional experience;
