- Install and configure hardware/software according to infrastructure project specifications
- Install and configure (basic/advanced) Operating Systems – Unix (mainly AIX) and Linux
- Install, configure, and administer application and middleware software
- Communicate with internal/external clients regarding hardware/software issues.
- Perform emergency as well as scheduled system and network maintenance in accordance with company IT policies and procedures to ensure reliability, availability and security
- Manage on-site and on-call service issues, and escalate to next level support when necessary
- Diagnose technical problems, provide multiple-level onsite and offsite advice and support to end-users to resolve fault areas as needed
- University Degree in Computer Science, Informatics or equivalent
- 2/3 years of experience in:
• Operating system (AIX, Linux and/or Windows) installation, advanced configuration, administration, and security patch application
• Windows and/or UNIX-based domain and infrastructure services
• Messaging environment (MS Exchange, Sendmail, Qmail, Lotus Notes) installation, advanced configuration, and administration
• Directory services – MS Active Directory, LDAP or other
- Ability to meet strict deadlines
- Clean driver’s license and ability to travel
- Experience with backup and restore software/hardware products
- Proactive problem-solving attitude and skills
- Storage basics (1+ brand name platforms - HP EVA, IBM Fast, EMC Simetrix/Clariion or NetApp)
- Storage environment RAID configuration and LUN definition experience
- VMware installation and configuration experience
- Good command of English (written and spoken)
- Sound communication and interpersonal skills
Additional assets:
- Applicable certifications (VMware, Red Hat, or NetApp)
- Experience in designing hardware architectures
- Experience with high availability clustering and load balancing solutions for disaster recovery
- Experience with application servers like JOnAS, JBoss, Websphere, or Oracle AS
