Compulsory skills:
• Very good communication skills in English, both written and spoken (at least level 4/5);
• Experienced system engineer/administrator (Can perform most tasks with no assistance);
• Hands-on experience with Red Hat Linux family (RHEL, CentOS, etc.);
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Windows Server family (2003, 2008, 2012);
• Good command of Unix networking concepts and configuration;
• Enterprise virtualization skills. Can perform most virtualization tasks with little to no assistance;
• Hands-on experience with VMware (vSphere, ESX, ESXi): using VMware Console, creating images, VMDK image format, converting images;
• UNIX / Linux shell scripting (Bourne Shell / Korn Shell & POSIX tools);
• Understands and uses regular expressions;
• Has used and understands Bug Reporting Tools (such as Bugzilla, RTC, ClearQuest, JIRA, rt) and Concepts;
• Understands support and ticketing;
• Ability to monitor, report progress and achieve agreed deliverables;
• Ability to document, certify, present and hand over (knowledge transfer) work results;
Nice to have:
• Experience with operating system installation automation and bare-metal install;
• Linux networking (iptables, NAT, port forwarding, firewall configuration);
• Scripting and Automation in a language of choice (sh, ksh, bash, perl on *NIX and BAT, WSH);
• General Testing and Quality Assurance knowledge and skills;
• OpenStack skills;
• Chef experience;
• Experience with Agile development, SCRUM;
Tasks and Activities:
• Part of a global team creating, maintaining and improving golden operating system images for a major enterprise cloud offering (Infrastructure-as-a-Service);
• Work will include creating base operating system images (virtual images used by the supervisors and made available to customers via image catalog), maintaining, updating and decommissioning the images at end of support, as well as automating agent installations and configurations inside the operating system.
