As a C programmer, you will be part of our young and highly qualified team of programmers, that will develop and integrate powerful in-house solutions, both for Voice System's customers and for the open source project that we have founded and we maintain: the OpenSER SIP server (www.openser.org).
As a developer of OpenSER, we give you the opportunity to also become a respected developer within the open source community, which is growing very powerful nowadays. You will become responsible for the parts of code that you commit into OpenSER, and you will have to interact with people who want to know more about the path you have chosen to solve a specific problem. You will sometimes be required to give your input concerning the design and the directions of future development for specific parts of OpenSER, that you will furtherly implement and maintain.
On the other hand, our C programmers will be taught how to design, implement, tune and deploy a real VoIP platform, for our customers, that you might also be required to supervise, in the background of your development tasks.
The work for Voice System's customers and for OpenSER will be balanced in order to be in agreement with your domain preferences, your originality and ability to develop new features, and with the general directions dictated by the VoIP environment we work in. Customizable platform may require, time to time, on-site presence (in customer premises) during platforms roll-out.
VoIP is a new, in-fashion, changing and fast-evolving domain that people need to know more about.
So you should be prepared to sometimes travel, along with other Voice System team members, to promote our VoIP solution within international fares, with a strong accent on its originality and the last-minute concepts that it continuously integrates.
Key Skills :
- good knowledge and relevant experience as a C programmer, preferably on UNIX platforms (mainly Linux)
- experienced with classical programming data structures such as FIFO and LIFO (stack) lists, binary and generalized trees and with their implementation in standard C language
- experienced with the usage and management of dynamically allocated memory, and good understanding of C pointers
- good knowledge of spoken and written English
Would be a PLUS :
- 1 year of experience in C programming - University projects, company job/internship, projects developed in your free-time (you will have to present your work in detail)
- multiprocess and multithreading programming
synchronization and mutual exclusion on shared resources understanding and ability to use them
- IPC (interprocess communication) techniques understanding and ability of using them
- networking fundamentals good understanding and knowledge (TCP/IP stack of protocols), and ability to manipulate these concepts in programs, by using sockets
- SQL-language and database knowledge (mySQL)
- version-control systems knowledge (CVS, SVN)
